Islamism Is the Real Enemy of Muslims and Israel

Can the West believe in Islamic progress?

While the West has been largely indecisive about its position on the several recent experimental and violent renegotiations of Islam and power in the Middle East, its feelings on Islamic power have been rather clearly de[...]

Islamism Is the Real Enemy of Muslims and Israel

Political Islamism is a deadly global challenge to women, to moderate Muslims and to Jews in particular, but it also offers the chance for secular and humanist Muslims to make common cause with Israelis and Jews worldwide to oppose the eclipsing of the liberal vision. Islamism, and not 'Islamophobia,' is the real enemy of Israel, in contrast to the opinion published in Haaretz recently. Islamism is also my enemy: the enemy of all free-willed Muslim humanists. [e]

The Broader Notion of Din Al-Islam Is Inclusive Of All Monotheistic Faiths

The Ulama may attempt to refute the foregoing conclusion (in bold) by citing the statement of the verse 3:85: "If anyone seeks other than Islam as a din (religion), it will not be accepted of him, and in the hereafter he will be among the losers." Traditional scholarship disconnects the verse from its immediately preceding verses 3:83-84, which categorically declare that "all in the heavens and on earth have submitted (asslama) (to God), willingly or unwillingly" (3:83) and expounds Qur'anic universalism quite unambiguously:

Why is Polygamy Allowed in Islam? How is it Best Practiced?

Give orphans their property, do not replace their good things with the bad, and do not consume their property with your own. That is a serious crime. If you fear you will not deal justly by the orphans, marry of the women, who seem good to you, two or three or four; and if you fear that you cannot do justice (to so many) then one (only) or the captives that your right hands possess. Thus it is more likely that you will not do injustice (4:2-3). [e]

World Hijab Day: Why head-cover?

Yesterday was the tenth anniversary of World Hijab Day, ironically started when the Muslim women's head-cover was banned in France in 2002. The concept of head-covering for women is quite misunderstood both in the West as well as amongst some Muslims. A number of years ago, Sydney Morning Herald published a great article by the feminist Naomi Wolf exploring the motivation of wearing a veil among Muslim women. The author recognized that Muslims differentiate between private and public life when it comes to sexuality. Modesty is a cherished value for both men and women in public. In an Islamic society, partners exclusively belong to each other. Explaining the concept, Ms. Wolf wrote: [e]

Coping With Critics Of Moderate Islam

It will not do to lash out at critics of Islam from either side of the growing divide. If we want moderate Islam to survive even till the end of the 21st century, not to speak of the present millennium or beyond, we have to urgently come together and brainstorm. This is what New Age Islam is for. It has already brought many thinking Muslims from all over the world together. Let us stay together and think together. Let us feel grateful for the gift of some articulate critics. They give us an opportunity to try articulating our own ideas. We may passionately believe in something and yet not be able to express that with any degree of eloquence. We need sounding boards. God has given us a few. Let us use that. Who knows we may bring some of them back to the fold of moderate Islam. [e]

Does Love Exist in Islam?

Salam! I want to ask if in Islam "love" exists, because many non-Muslims claim that love does not exist in Islam; it promotes hatred between people and Allah is not a loving God. [e]

Science vs Islam — Syed Kamran Hashmi

At the same time, like any other world-religion, Muslims also get intimidated by the technological advances and scientific developments of the last few centuries. They realise that this progress has changed the entire meaning of human existence in modern times. They also understand its impact on religion that has suffered tremendously. Having lost its importance in everyday life all over the world, it is essentially absent in the western lifestyle. [e]

Islamophobia as an Integral Part of the Political Platform

The general mood in the United States has grown increasingly intolerant towards Muslims. Charlotte Wiedemann was in New York and spoke with Imam Talib Abdur-Rashid, Afro-American and President of the Islamic Leadership Council, on the mood in this election year and about his criticism of some Muslims for what he sees as opportunism Imam, you stood on the street with a sign that said "Muslims demand equal rights!" Against what were you directing your protest? [e]

I am not a Sunni or Shia but a Muslim, We are united Muslims

Let me just start out by saying this, it is a mistake(in my opinion) to call ourselves Sunni or Shia. "It is He (Allah) who has named you MUSLIMS.." [22:78] "And how would you disbelieve, while unto you are recited the Verses of Allah, and among you is His Messenger (Muhammad SAW)? And whoever holds firmly to Allah, (i.e. follows Islam Allah's Religion, and obeys all that Allah has ordered, practically), then he is indeed guided to a Right Path. O you who believe! Fear Allah (by doing all that He has ordered and by abstaining from all that He has forbidden) as He should be feared. [Obey Him, be thankful to Him, and remember Him always], and die not except in a state of Islam (as Muslims) with complete submission to Allah. [e]

Pakistani Cyber Armies Hacking Indian Websites, Using Twitter, Facebook And YouTube To Cause Ethnic Conflicts In India

In recent years, a number of Pakistani hacker groups have come to the notice of the Indian government for their continuing attacks on Indian websites, and, most recently, for their role in using social media networks to trigger a mass exodus from major Indian cities by people of northeastern Indian ethnic origin. India has expressed concern that the use of social networking websites by Pakistani groups could trigger ethnic conflicts in India. This paper will examine some key Pakistani cyber groups and the nature of their anti-India activities in recent years, revealing also how their motives are underpinned by antisemitism and by a sense of global Islamism. [e]

Who can give a fatwa?

دین الاسلام کے وسیع تر تصور میں تمام توحیدی مذاہب شامل ہیں

The world has exposed their lies

The war against Islam never halted for a single day in the United States during the month of Ramadan, and perhaps it became even fiercer. I monitored the activities of neo-conservatives and the Israel lobby and the Likudniks in the media, and selected items that deserved some comment. Then, I delayed publishing until after the month of fasting. [e]

Extremism: The 'Wahabi Republic' of Pakistan shiapost

There are many people in Pakistan who oppose the Taliban and their militant activities; however, ironically, not all of them question the Saudi-Wahabi ideology that provides impetus to militant Islamists. It is not so difficult to find people in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan who despise the Taliban and their suicide bombings that have killed scores of Pakistanis over the past few years. Yet, it is not common to hear voices opposing Saudi Arabia and its Wahabi state ideology.

Pakistan Constitution should make hijab compulsory: JI

Jamaat-e-Islami celebrates "International Hijab Day", says the west is using media against Islam. More than 200 women of Multan had gathered at Nawaz Shehar Square to protest against "media campaigns targeting hijab" and announced that the JI will celebrate "International Hijab Day" every year on September 4. MISCONCEPTIONS TOWARDS ISLAM

Islam is a widely-misunderstood religion. Those who are unfamiliar with the faith often have misunderstandings about its teachings and practices. Common misconceptions include that Muslims worship a moon-god, that Islam is oppressive against women, or that Islam is a faith that promotes violence. Here we bust these myths and expose the true teachings of Islam. [...] [e]

Does Islam ban dancing and music? 17 were beheaded for dancing

In the early 20th century, a new generation of pamphleteers railed against dance. Consider the 1909 tome The Christian and Amusements, by Presbyterian evangelist William Edward Biederwolf. Just as today's Saudi fundamentalists blame pre-Islamic cultures for belly dancing, Biederwolf claimed that "the mingling of the sexes in dancing originated in Greece among men of contaminated morals and women of loose, questionable character." [e]

Anti-Islam ads force U.S. transport agency to rethink policies

The anti-Islam campaign was created by Pamela Geller, a blogger and head of the American Freedom Defense Infinitive (AFDI). Geller has also spent $10,000 for the campaign. "I hope people will gain a new understanding of the nature and magnitude of the jihad threat," Geller, who was also against the construction of an Islamic cultural center and mosque near the site of the World Trade Center, said

Radical Islam revives an ancient hatred

In Nigeria, Jews have been attacked and killed while studying scripture. In Bangladesh, Jewish children are being forced into madrassas. In Pakistan, the body of an 11-year-old Jewish boy was discovered this week; he'd been tortured to death and his lips sliced off. You won't have heard about this atrocious persecution. That's because – forgive me – I've played one of the oldest tricks in the journalist's book. For Jews, read Christians. For anti-Semitic, read anti-Christian. For synagogues read churches. [e]
